Hello Friends,
It's been a while since the last post. It's my fault...let's get back to it. Join in on the discussion anytime.
Today we read and laughed and reflected on chapter 1 of Donald Miller's book Searching For God Knows What. Read chapter 1 here. Maybe his story of "Sister Democracy," a nun who falls in love with third-world dictators in order to secure the liberation of their country's people won't make the best-seller list, but I think Miller is on to something in his book. He talks about how short a formulaic faith comes from the real thing. "Three easy steps to success" isn't the most helpful commentary on life with God...or life at all for that matter. In my take, it has everything to do with the fact that life is far too beautiful, mysterious, complex, and messy for three easy steps to speak to. So, if you're interested in discovering and experimenting with a differnt take on life with Christ...one that will require good friends and at least a desire to desire intimacy with God...check out this book.
This book will be used in our first round of small groups for high schoolers for the 2006-2007 school year. I hope you'll want to join us.
